SS20: Empty Room
In every aspects of its journey, Elhaus always had more of a subtle approach towards graphics as its decoratives, leaving it to its pattern making, fabrics and cutting to do the talking for the visuals. Nevertheless, this EMPTY ROOM collection reflects on that situation, as more of numerous artists’ works are drawn into it by an unique mathematical form: a continuous fractal space-filling instrument named Hilbert’s Curve.
This automated space-filling mechanism inspired the collection to be more aware of its previous situations, where the pieces always seem to show its functional and utilitarian characteristics instead of celebrating richness of cultur-driven graphic properties.
Thus born the collaboration with artists in focus. Adriel x Tangan Besi plays the narrative, a possibility of a state of where human hands with its user’s imagination meets the work of a CNC machine.
We use vast range of fabric on this collection, from durable ripstop, handmade waffle fabric, to biodegradable lyocell.
